Race 1. (12:35) Merson Cooper Stakes 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

Hard to get away from 10 Remedies (Bet Now: $3.00). James Cummings trained filly that was kept quite safe in betting on debut at Cranbourne two weeks ago where she led throughout and gee she moved nicely under Zahra, booting clear on the turn and spanking her rivals. The depth here, as a whole, looks a tad thin, and she does have the winning race experience under her belt.

Danger

9 Hydrogen Power (Bet Now: $15.00) is a son of The Autumn Sun for the Price/Kent camp that is on debut. He jumped out last week at Cranbourne to get ready for start one and I thought he moved pretty well to the eye without really being fully extended. Bred to be better over further, but stable rarely gets it wrong with a juvenile on debut in a Stakes race.

Long shot

6 Fludway (Bet Now: $13.00) is an Exceed And Excel colt for Michael Freedman that I think can give this a shake. He trialled a couple of weeks back at Randwick on the Kenso track when a strong winner and ran a pretty solid time relative to the morning. Proven stable when it comes to juveniles, so he’s in with a shout.

Race 2. (13:10) Sandown Cup 3200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

7 True Marvel (Bet Now: $14.00) is a stayer and will keep finding the line. He ran at Canberra on Cup Day and took forever to wind into his work but was good to the line when second. Still got room for improvement I feel and this stable, when they come to Victoria with a stayer, rarely get it wrong, so he’s the bet for me.

Danger

1 San Huberto (Bet Now: $6.50) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Matt Cumani, he now finds himself with the Maher/Eustace camp. He ran three weeks ago in the Queens Cup when failing to beat a runner home behind Soulcombe. This stable has a great record with tried horses, so watch the market.

Long shot

4 Team Captain (Bet Now: $4.00) won this race last year. Not going as well 12 months on, but should be one to include in exotics. Tried to sustain a run on Cup Day over 2800m and fought on well enough behind dominant winner White Marlin. Proven 3200m performer that can win without being totally shocking.

Race 3. (13:45) Doveton Stakes 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

I think getting away from the big boys and girls will see 2 General Beau (Bet Now: $7.00) prove hard to beat. He hasn’t raced since Derby Day when he rode near the speed and just battled late behind Argentia. This looks more at his level and I thought his recent jumpout was a very nice piece of work. He’ll do me in an even contest.

Danger

One of the most fascinating runners on the program is clearly 1 Bruckner (Bet Now: $5.00), a last start Coolmore Stud placegetter, going back to last year behind Home Affairs. He hasn’t raced since then, so I’d love to know why the long break, but his trial win at Hawkesbury was sharp and at his best, I think he wins. Market will tell you if he’s ready.

Long shot

3 Yulong Command (Bet Now: $10.00) will jump on the bunny and run a positive race. He did that when racing down the straight on Oaks Day and stuck to the task really well behind straight track specialist Joyful Fortune. Athelric franked the form last Saturday and for me, Yulong Command is a better horse around a bend. He can bounce back.

Race 4. (14:20) Twilight Glow Stakes 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

2 Gray River (Bet Now: $3.70) is a definite winning chance. Put together a couple of sharp wins in SA before going to Flemington on Oaks Day where she was kept quite safe in betting and she tried her guts out, being hailed as the winner, only to be bloused late by Razeta. Has the 1400m run under the belt, should roll forward and prove hard to beat.

Danger

11 Caste (Bet Now: $14.00) will be hard to beat if the inside gate is used to advantage. She has drawn tricky and got a mile out of her ground in both career outings, but she won like a jet on debut before going to Pakenham when back and wide but came with a well-timed run and looked the winner but was nabbed late. Leading contender.

Long shot

1 Street Delight (Bet Now: $14.00) is on the seventh day back up for Team Corstens after racing in the Stockade last Saturday at Ballarat where she chased strongly and loomed to win but couldn’t quite get there when second to Shuriken. Firmer footing is interesting but hard fit and gets an idea map from the gate.

Race 5. (3pm) Heffernan Stakes 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

8 Norwegian Bliss… (Bet Now: $2.25) beware the unbeaten horse. Very talented mare for Nathan Doyle that is 7/7 to start her career, the latest coming at Randwick on Cup Day where she was a notable drifter in betting but class came to the fore and she was too good. Could have been set up for the home deck on Hunter Day but instead has been kept on ice for blacktype here, and patience will be rewarded.

Danger

9 Samoot (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the saver for Norwegian Bliss IMO. This mare is absolutely flying for Kris Lees but has been given none with her past two rides. Should have won two back at Randwick before being thrown in the deep end in the Hot Danish when wide throughout and actually wasn’t too bad late. If she gets normal luck, she’ll be a key threat for sure.

Long shot

5 Poland (Bet Now: $9.50) is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip on Derby Day at Flemington where he gave a strong kick on speed but had no answers late for Old Flame, who was given a 12/10 by J Mac and was too good. Poland has promised to win a nice race for a while and he gets his chance here.

Race 6. (15:40) Eclipse Stakes 1800m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

1 Grandslam (Bet Now: $3.50) will do me. Maher/Eustace trained gelding that resumed on Manikato night at The Valley when ridden with a sit and he was solid late behind Winning Partner. He races best when on speed and from the gate with Williams steering, I think that happens and at his best, he’ll take beating.

Danger

13 Princess Rhaenys (Bet Now: $16.00) looks to be in for a good prep. Resumed on Oaks Day in the Inglis Bracelet where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, I really liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Roots. Fitter and up in trip, she appeals.

Long shot

7 Montign (Bet Now: $11.00) is a ripping horse for Stuart Padman and deserves a crack at this kind of race. The big tick with him is that he is a line finder and just knows where the post is. That was the case last Wednesday at Morphettville, surging hard late to win right on the peg. 1800m should be fine, hard fit and in shape, he appeals.

Race 7. (16:20) Zipping Classic 2400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

5 Chapada (Bet Now: $21.00) is a beauty for Mike Moroney and he is a definite winning chance here. He ran in the Archer on Derby Day where he got back in the small field and battled away late without threatening behind a progressive stayer, Surefire. He has an excellent record at Caulfield and has run some big races here, good enough to win this.

Danger

3 Sound (Bet Now: $8.50) is looking to make it three straight Zipping Classics and he looks to be right on track. He ran a beauty in the Caulfield Cup before going to the Queens Cup and stuck to the task well enough behind a potential star, Soulcombe. Really good platform for this race and stable are flying in these big races.

Long shot

7 Great House (Bet Now: $13.00) is capable. Forgive run in the Caulfield Cup two back before going to the Queens Cup where I thought J Mac gave him every chance but he was quite plain late behind Soulcombe. Off the two runs to start the prep, that would see him just about to take this out, so don’t pen him.

Race 8. (17:00) Sandown Guineas 1600m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

13 See You In Heaven… (Bet Now: $3.70) was she the good thing beat of Cup Week? Potentially. Ugly viewing if you were on her. Willow just got into a tricky spot and took forever to get clear before eventually getting clear air and savaging the line. Off that effort, she has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat.

Danger

5 Atmosphere (Bet Now: $12.00) looks to have been set for the race. Down the track in the Dulcify before having a month off and going to 1400m at Flemington when leading and was hailed as the winner, but was nabbed late by Magic Time. Back up to the mile and stable are very good at placing these horses to advantage in a blacktype contest.

Long shot

1 Kings Consort (Bet Now: $14.00) is on the seventh day back up Team Freedman after racing last Saturday in the Eureka Stockade at Ballarat. He was back in the small field and took forever to wind into his work, only getting warm late to finish third. The mile should be ideal for him and if he can settle closer, he can be dangerous.

Race 9. (17:40) Summoned Stakes 1600m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

8 Roots (Bet Now: $3.30) is bursting to win some blacktype and I think she gets a great chance. Ran on Oaks Day in the Inglis Bracelet where she took a while to wind into her work but as the race got further, she got better and won impressively, with that race rating as one of the best during Cup Week. That will do me for here.

Danger

5 Mac N Cheese (Bet Now: $10.00) is racing really well for Team McEvoy. Okay fresh behind Turaath on Geelong Cup Day before going to Flemington on Cup Day and warmed up to the task nicely late behind Larkspur Run, defying a remarkable betting drift where it suggested she had three legs. Hard fit and up to the mile, she rates highly.

Long shot

13 See Marie (Bet Now: $21.00) is hard to beat I feel for Peter Moody. She had her first run for the camp on Cup Day at Flemington and was quite good from near last on the turn behind Larkspur Run, beaten around 1.5L. Whether she wants one more, not sure, but that run was encouraging.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 8 Norwegian Bliss

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 8 Roots

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 5 Chapada
